Ronnie Screwvala is the founder and CEO of UTV Group, which was founded in the year 1990. He is the founder of Unilazer Ventures Ltd. He has also forayed into online education with UpGrad, an online education platform offering new ages courses to working professionals. He has authored the book Dream With Your Eyes Open. He is the owner of U Mumba - the Mumbai Kabaddi team.
Uday Kotak is India’s first self-made billionaire banker, and the Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank. As a young 26-year old entrepreneur in 1985, Uday Kotak started Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd, which is now the 3rd largest private bank in India. He has won numerous awards for his activities in the Indian Banking space, including Entrepreneur of the Year ’03 by EY, and Most Valuable CEO by Business World.
Seeing the need of an online ticketing platform in India, Ashish Hemrajani co-founded BigTree Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. - BookMyShow in 2007, leaving a lucrative job in a large PR agency. A known recluse, Ashish Hemrajani is off most social media platforms, preferring a more personal touch with people.
Harsh Mariwala (Marico Ltd. and ASCENT Foundation) leads Marico Limited as its Chairman. He is also Chairman and Managing Director of Kaya Limited. Over the past three decades, Harsh has transformed traditional commodities driven business into a leading consumer products and services company in the Beauty and Wellness space. He was the President of FICCI in 2011. He has held the position of YPO Education, Membership and Chapter Chair for the Bombay Chapter and was a member of the International Forum Board of YPO International.”
Falguni Nayar is the Founder and CEO of Nykaa, an e-commerce website offering beauty and wellness products. She is an alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad, and former Managing Director of Kotak Investment Banking. She saw the need of ease of access to cosmetics and unbiased advice to consumers, and opened an online store in that space.
Vijay Shekhar Sharma is the founder of Paytm, an online payment gateway. He started his company in 2010, after many hardships and setbacks in his life. Paytm is one of the most downloaded apps in India, with over 10 million app downloads. He started One97 Communications in 2005 which offered mobile content like news, cricket scores and more which is now Paytm’s parent company.
Neeraj Kakar is the CEO of Hector Beverages - Paper Boat, and a founder of Paper Boat drinks. He is a MBA graduate from Wharton School of Business, Pennsylvania. He founded Paper Boat as a way to bring back childhood memories, and introduced and continues to introduce flavours from all parts of India.
Dr A. Velumani is the Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd., a chain of diagnostic and preventive care laboratories. He has over 19 years of experience in the diagnostics business. Prior to that, he worked for over 12 years as a scientific officer at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. He was awarded the Brig. S.K. Mazumdar Memorial Oration Award in 2001. He is a life – time member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, India.
Sasha Mirchandani is Managing Director and Founder of Kae Capital and Co-founder of Mumbai Angels. Previously, Sasha was at Blue Run Ventures as Managing Director for the India operations. He is a Charter Member at TiE Mumbai. He is also Past President of Entrepreneurs Organisation (EO) Mumbai and is a member of the Mumbai Chapter of the Young Presidents Organisation (YPO). He is also on the Board of Governors of the Universal Business School.
Anita Dongre is a fashion designer and Founder of House of Anita Dongre Limited which is today recognised as India's leading fashion house. The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ladies Organization, Bombay Chapter, presented an award to her for ‘Excellence in Fashion Design’ in 2013. In 2012, she was featured in Fortune Magazine as one of the 50 most powerful women in business, India.
Karthik Reddy is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Blume Ventures, one of India’s leading tech-focused early stage VCs. Karthik is an engineer from IIT Roorkee, and holds MBAs from both IIM Bangalore and Wharton. Humble and approachable, he’s passionate about entrepreneurs who refuse to give up despite the odds and those who chase ideas that create fundamental positive shifts.
Sandeep Singhal is a co-founder of Nexus Venture Partners and also serves as its Managing Director and Partner. He is an entrepreneur and a pioneer of Venture Capital in India. Sandeep has an MBA (with Distinction) from The Wharton School with a dual Major in Finance and Marketing, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He is on the Board of TiE Mumbai, and is actively involved with the Entrepreneurs Organisation.
Dhanpal Jhaveri is the Managing Partner at Everstone Capital and oversees the private equity business of the Everstone Group. Prior to joining Everstone, he worked as Director (Corporate Strategy) with Vedanta Resources Plc. His other assignments included, Head of Investment Banking at ICICI Securities, and Partner for Corporate Finance at KPMG. He is currently a Board member and was a past President of TiE, Mumbai. He is also on the Board of Avasara Leadership Institute
Bala Deshpande is the Senior Managing Director at New Enterprise Associates India Pvt. Ltd. - one of the world’s largest venture capital firms. Prior to that, she was with ICICI Venture. She was a Director on the boards of several companies including Aaj Tak, Shoppers Stop, Air Deccan, etc. She worked with leading multinational companies such as Bestfoods, Cadburys, and ICI. She is on the Advisor Board of transformational enterprises like TRRAIN and iVolunteer.
Atul Khatri is the Director of Sales and Service, at Kaytek Computer Services Pvt. Ltd., with over 15 years of Hardware Sales and IT Service Experience. He is also a standup comedian and has won the "CEO's Got Talent" award by Freemantle Media in 2014. He's the only Indian who performed at the Hong Kong International ComedyFestival in 2014.
Sonam Wangchuk is a Mechanical Engineer by education, though he has been mostly working in the field of education reform for more than 27 years. He founded SECMOL (Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh) which aims to bring reforms in the government school system in Ladakh. He was titled the UNESCO Chair for Earthen Architecture for India 2014.
An engineer from NIE Mysore and an MBA from SPJIMR, Mumbai, he has co- founded MeritTrac as a pioneering idea in skills assessments, RubanBridge Pvt. Ltd., and Head Held High Foundation. Madan also serves as a Senior Advisor to Tata Trusts, one of the oldest philanthropic trusts in India and helps the Trusts in strategic areas like knowledge management.
Anand Damani is a behavioural scientist. At his firm Briefcase, he uses science to change human behaviour. He applies the science of behavioural economics and cognitive neuroscience to change consumer, employee and public behaviour.In addition to consulting, he invents products that change behaviour like reducing drivers honking in India.His work has been featured in TIME, BBC, Forbes, The Economic Times etc.
Deepak Ramola is a United Nations Young Changemaker speaker, two times TEDx speaker, an educator, a writer, actor, lyricist and a gold medalist in Mass Media studies from the University of Mumbai. His teaching method of Project FUEL has been recognised as an innovation in education by the Centre for Education Innovations. He is a board member of Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hissar where he mentors nearly 2000 girls.
Noshir Kaka is the Managing Director at McKinsey India, and founder of its global Outsourcing and Offshore practice. He was one of the youngest partners in McKinsey India, building it into India’s preeminent consulting firm. He speaks frequently at key industry forums, including the Confederation of Indian Industry and NASSCOM, and has served on the juries of several business media awards.
Hrishikesh Kannan, also known as Hrishi K, is a radio host and voice over artist in India. He is currently working as an English jock hosting the breakfast show ‘Good Morning Mumbai’ from 7am-12pm on weekdays at 94.3 Radio One. He has also been awarded a RAPA (Radio and Television Advertising Practitioners' Association of India) award.
Lakshmi Pratury is an entrepreneur, curator, speaker, and self-described “people collector”. She is the founder and CEO of INK. She brought TED to India in 2009. Previously, she was the founder of the Digital Equalizer program, which brought technology education to over 100,000 children and 2,000 teachers in India. She was a partner at the venture capital firm Global Catalyst Partners and was with Intel Corporation for 12 years.
Mini Menon is the Co-founder and Editor at Indy Network, a digital media company conceptualised to create niche content platforms independently. She was formerly the Executive Editor of Bloomberg TV India. In 2013, Mini's book - Riding The Wave - on seven of India's leading businessmen was published by Harper Collins. She was adjudged as one of the 10 most influential women in Indian Marketing, Advertising and Media by Impact magazine.
